—Opening 18 March, Saturday 3-5pm—
Of Land and Sea showcases coastal and urban landscape paintings by Northern Sydney-based artists Inta Charteris and Vittoria Vieceli, whose works share an evocative approach to place. Charteris’ oil paintings capture the diverse natural beauty of coastlands and her deep connection to them acquired from her childhood growing up on the Northern Beaches. Vieceli’s works comprise of plein air “colour sketches” in oil, combining her background in drawing with her intuitive approach to painting. Her close attention to light and tone reveals intricate contours and painterly technique in her work.
“My art reflects the essence of tranquillity, renewal and our connection with Nature in its many forms and the senses that this evokes in the individual with the subject matter being something that everyone can relate to.” – Inta Charteris
“This collection is a painterly exploration and celebration of Sydney’s unique coastline. The intricate, jagged headlands that define our harbour and the ocean that determine our living relationship to the sea” – Vittoria Vieceli
To be opened by John Perkins, artist and President of the Royal Art Society, NSW.
