A Coastline and Between by Amanda Tye
13 August - 1 September
—Opening 13 August, Thursday 6-8pm—
Driven by the dissatisfaction of today’s fast pace lifestyle, Tye seeks to capture places resembling untouched paradises, playing with perspective and colour to offer a still and quiet perspective of Sydney’s coastal landscape. Her distinct style dances between representation and abstraction, which often translates through the tensions between the natural environment with man-made world.
“By sectioning the view into shapes, I capture different emotional responses to my surroundings on the one surface. I am interested in a practice that swings between responding to the world as I experience it and a creative process that happens outside my conscious awareness” – Amanda Tye
